Bruce Rubin, M.D., M.B.A. serves as an APDC pediatric advisor at VCU and is the Jessie Ball duPont Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the VCU Medical Center. He has appointments as professor of biomedical engineering and an adjunct professor of physiology and biophysics as well. He is a pediatric pulmonologist, a biomedical engineer, and has a master’s degree in business. He has spent the past 30 years studying airway biomaterials (primarily mucus), developing and testing medical aerosols, and creating cell and tissue culture models of chronic airway diseases. His discoveries have led to 9 patents – 3 in the past 4 years.
